What! No Diamond trade?

#1 Post by rock5 » Tue Mar 18, 2014 10:38 pm

What! No Diamond trade? How long's it been like that? I suspect it has been a few months.

Here I am leveling my EU alts (because Nexon is too easy) and now I realize I can't get diamonds. Looks like I'll switch back to nexon again.

Problem with Nexon is all my characters are already high level and leveling any further using dailies is too slow. I did level 1 character to 90/90 using the Epic questline quests (manually). I think that may be the best way to level high level characters. Which bring me back to the idea of creating an Epic questline waypoint chain. I have considered doing it in the past and even did some preliminary work to simplify it but it was too big a job.

Actually, the work I'm doing to finally create an item rater might finally make that possible. So I might give it another try once I get the rater working.

dias were taken from Aus AH a while back, Nexn atm is stupid prices for Dias on AH because of the recent duping. You can still get the 10 free dias from the website though, I just change my IP and do it on a few accounts each day, the bonus of not having a static IP ;)

But yeah Nexon prices are just stupid atm and from what I can tell no one has been banned and it is still going on. I put 1 dia in AH for 100mil, it will probably sell lol

There is always Cedric too although I suspect he runs out really quickly in the current climate. I expect the prices will eventually stabilize but who know how long it will be. But at least diamonds are available.

To get to the start of this quest line your char need to have done the instance Belathis.

http://www.romhiddenquests.tk/ that is the website to a section to most hidden quests out there in runes of magic also if it might be of interest

This remind me of when I looked into this and did the whole grid of coords for a map and going from npc to npc and trying to do it that way.
Just seemed like such a huge project and time is something I don't have a great deal of.

i can imagine that its huge and everything, and that is time consuming like crazy,

sometimes i wish there was a quicker way to make the scripts and the walking paths and everything.

beouse its in inpossible its just alot of work and then test it out. would take a loooong time

Thats why the theory I had was to make up coords for entire map in a grid, then use a function to decide shortest path to set location.
Theory was you have the quests in a table and the NPC name and coords, the coords of where you need to go and what to kill/collect, so the bot would just use the table to tell it what it needs to do, then use the grid to decide best way to get to those coords.
Was great in theory but yes very time consuming, testing always takes up the most amount of time =(

Getting the quest list is not hard. Some of the previous work I did included getting the 'previous' and 'next' quest of a quest from memory. Not all quests in the questline have a 'next' quest but they all have a 'previous' quest. So all I need is the quest id of the last quest and I can create a complete chain of quests. The only issue is figuring out how to arrange them, what with all the branching and side quests necessary.

My plan is to have 1 waypoint file per quest. I have to decide on a standard that can be used for all quests then I'll make a modified version of createpath specifically for this task that will add the extra code to meet this standard, eg. it will record the quest name, npcs location etc. and use these in the onload to make sure it starts the quest properly, This will all be done automatically while using createpath normally. All the quest waypoint files will go into 1 subfolder and there will be a 'starting' waypoint file that will check what quest you are up to and start the correct waypoint file. If you are not in the right place, it will tell you where to go to start. I may even just release the custom createpath, after I've got it working right, so users can create the individual waypoint files for me and I'll just add them as they come in. Of course I'll still have to write the 'starting' file myself.

With the creating of the individual quest files, If we work together as a community (after you get the basic starting questfile done and the new custom createwaypoint done) and each of us that can help, take a certain range of quests, we could probably work through this and eventually get a working foler full of waypoints for the main questline. But yeah, the biggest headache is the testing because once a character turns in a quest, if you had to make a change, you would now need a different character a that same quest point to test it again. But, I do have about 6 or 7 characters that are at around lvl 56 - 57 that have not started any of the main questline so they would make good guinea pigs.

I have around 20 characters on Nexon that are ~80, as a lot of others probably do, that havn't even started the main chain, so I can test waypoints also.

Holy crap that is so much more awesome and advanced that what I even thought of attempting! Also, I will help in whatever capacity you need for this. Be it testing, running waypoints, etc.

An idea is to test the waypoint for an individual quest by accepting it, completing the task, running to the end NPC and than abandoning the quest. This way (especially in the higher levels) you don't have to spend umpteen hours getting the next character both level ready and properly flagged for the quest. The only time this may be different is if you need to run scenarios based on class and/or race combinations.

Yeah, that's kind of how I did it when I was creating a series of quests to go from lvl 30 to 32... but then I found Tosh... and never progressed any more on that particular series.

You're right. If there are certain quests that come up based on the player's class those will take a bit more time to figure out. But it would sure be nice to be able to give "assignments" for multiple people here to build the waypoints for certain ranges of quests and have them all done in the same style via use of a new waypoint creator tool.

well since the quests we are looking at doing are in a chain, if you were assigned quests 11-15 in the chain you would still need to do the 1-10 in the chain before you can even start your assigned quests.
Something to keep in mind.

Out of the people interested in helping how many play on the Nexon private server?
Or are atleast willing to set up an install for the private server to do this, might mean a few gig download to do.

True. However, if its done smartly I do believe it can be pulled off without a hitch.

Why does that matter? Sure you level faster on Nexon but if a user has a real high level char on official they should still be able to run it.

BTW, is there a limit of how much money you can hold in RoM? I've been selling a few diamonds while the prices are high and seem to be unable to collect my money from the mailbox if my total money is more than 1,000,000,000.

yeah that is the limit how much gold you can have^^
because of that (hyper) inflation is really nasty in rom at some point.

I think the client use int32 for the value so you they could change up to 2kkk but after this it would be difficult( with unsigned int32 4kkk)

EDIT: Because of this limit the end-game instance players on the official servers started to store their gold on characters with the beginning of chapter 3.

Tell a story: On that time the dia trading rate was about 1/10K, one of the gilds at that time(late chapter3) was able that each player earned 1KKK in 2 weeks. That was in real money......calculation.... about 3k Euros in 2 weeks.

Naturally those who earn such amount of gold/dia/euro(PsC) would love this system, the rest hate it. I know newer days the gilds can't make such amount of money no longer because of the absent of buyers. I can tell that rom was/is a gold nugget for RW/Frogster/Gameforge because the players pay any price for that game e.g right now I think their is an offer for 1999 Dias on the official server.

If there are a few who want to do the work but and not yet playing on nexon I can make a pile of accounts and just level 1 char each acc to 55 and dump it in TH with the lvl 55 bag quest ready to go.

I can just let the bot killing while new chars leach XP, if I do it myself it takes me about an hour to go new to 50 and then just do daily 50-55 but that would involve me actually doing it, I'd prefer to just let the chars sit all in party while 1 char kills stuff for a few hours.

if anyone is interested I did some playing around in TH today and made up a set of points for the map, doesn't go to every single place on map but it covers most needed for the chains.
THpoints.jpg
THpoints2.jpg
THpoints.lua
(28.77 KiB) Downloaded 176 times
Just checked runedatabase.com and all their quest info is gone, which sux, they had all the coords and of where NPC's were and where to go for quest. Now going to have to actually do quests to make up the code =(

To give you an idea of how I am looking at doing this, the first quest for return to glory would look like this.

Code: Select all

-- quest (The Lost "Silver Eye")
			goto(-1007", 2195, 245)
			player:target_NPC(114478) -- Samiel Caster
AcceptQuestByName(422965) -- The Lost "Silver Eye"
			local np = player:findNearestNameOrId(114492)
			goto(np.X,np.Z,np.Y)
			player:target_NPC(114492) -- Dispirited Warrior Donqui
ChoiceOptionByName("Excuse me, do you know where the pub owner's "Silver Eye" has gone?")
			local np = player:findNearestNameOrId(114493)
			goto(np.X,np.Z,np.Y)
			player:target_NPC(114493) -- Old Moohide
ChoiceOptionByName("Excuse me, do you know where the pub owner's "Silver Eye" has gone?")
			local np = player:findNearestNameOrId(114491)
			goto(np.X,np.Z,np.Y)
			player:target_NPC(114491) -- Sweet Mary
ChoiceOptionByName("Excuse me, do you know where the pub owner's "Silver Eye" has gone?")
			local np = player:findNearestNameOrId(114490)
			goto(np.X,np.Z,np.Y)
			player:target_NPC(114490) -- Drunken Bill
ChoiceOptionByName("Excuse me, do you know where the pub owner's "Silver Eye" has gone?")
			local np = player:findNearestNameOrId(114494)
			goto(np.X,np.Z,np.Y)
			player:target_NPC(114494) -- Pig in a Pond Bouncer
			ChoiceOptionByName(getTEXT("SC_422965_5")) -- 'Gnoll?'
			goto(x="-1007" z="2195" y="245")
			player:target_NPC(114478) -- Samiel Caster
CompleteQuestByName(422965) -- The Lost "Silver Eye"
2nd quest

Code: Select all

			-- quest (Troublesome Customers)
			player:target_NPC(114478) -- Samiel Caster
			AcceptQuestByName(422966) -- Troublesome Customers

			goto(-1006, 2347, 245)
			player:target_Object("Banat")
			for i = 1,10 do
				player:target_Object("Spicy Ale")
				yrest(200)
			end
			player:target_Object("Banat")
			player:target_NPC(114478) -- Samiel Caster
			CompleteQuestByName(422966) -- Troublesome Customers
			yrest(40000)
not sure exactly how many times to click barrel.

3nd quest

Code: Select all

			-- quest(Mallen Brothers Gang Reward)
			player:target_NPC(114505) -- Mark Ferrero
AcceptQuestByName(422967) -- Mallen Brothers Gang Reward
			goto(-2001, 3548, 241)
			player:target_NPC(114752) -- Mallen Bandit Lackey
			ChoiceOptionByName("Hand over Max Ferrero's things!")
			-- kill 3 mobs
			player:target_Object("Stolen Goods")
			goto(-1084, 2259, 245)
			player:target_NPC(114505) -- Mark Ferrero
			CompleteQuestByName(422967, 1) -- Mallen Brothers Gang Reward
you get the idea anyway.
