Right now, Koding is giving our free VM access for life. If you sign up, you permanently get 3GB of space on a VM with root access. Koding is designed around programmers. You get to decide what environment you want with lots of choices for compilers and things of that nature. You can also collaborate with others on projects and share files, or merge your work with tools such as SVN or Git.
I'm sure you guys can probably come up with some uses for it. If you use my referral link (below), you'll get an extra 1GB of credit. Of course, you're free to sign up there without using my referral, too. Koding is still new and perhaps a little buggy, but it's an ambitious project. It is also a bit slow because there are so many people signing up.
Word is, they are going to get bought out by Google soon and will then no longer be free, unless you sign up now, so just thought I'd get the message out there.
Don't forget to confirm your email address in order to keep your account!

Very high load - 100 registrations a minute. Please excuse our slowness while we deploy 20 more servers.
Remember no matter you do in life to always have a little fun while you are at it

Re: Free Virtual Machine (VM)
It's proving to be quite popular. They've added some servers so now I've been able to play around with it more. The tools are very nice. The built-in file manager and text editor even allow regex find/replace.
I wish I would have known about this earlier. I could have used it to save myself a lot of trouble. I was working on a project where I'll need to read all the hardware sensors in a Linux host and report to a client via sockets. This VM setup would have meant I didn't have to waste a whole bunch of time setting up my laptop for that.

Re: Free Virtual Machine (VM)
I seen that a few of you signed up but have not confirmed your email addresses. In order to keep your account (for free), you'll need to confirm it before the week is over. To do that, just log in, and go to your user menu in the top-right. Select Account Settings. You should now have a link that asks you to confirm your account.
Seems like the site is a little bit more responsive now that they've added more servers to accommodate the influx of new users. If you didn't get a chance before, you might want to check it out and see if it is something you're interested in.
