Is it possible to run this with the ROM window minimized?

I'm trying to make botting more friendly on my laptop. When I minimize the ROM window my video card can stop spinning up as much. The only problem I find is that the bot fails to work properly after a bit. The bot itself doesn't fail, there isn't an error message, it's just that the keystrokes no longer make it to ROM and the timer on the bot stops.

Any way to tweak this and make it work?

This probably has to due with power saving for minimized processes. Try changing RoM's priority to high and see if that helps. You can also dig through the power saving options in Control Panel, but I'm not sure where exactly to look.
