Loot sound

#1 Post by parramet » Mon Mar 04, 2013 8:56 am

Hi all,

Any trick to disable that damn loot sound without silencing all the interface sounds ? I want chat monitor still be able to make a sound for text/wisp alerts. I used in the past to make a fake file sound wdb to 0 but now the game crashes if I do this. I looked into opening the wdb file and modiffy only that sound but failed on the wdb modify files , seems i need a core server thing to manipulate these files.

Any idea?

Some were in this forum is a link for some files you drop in rom folder to replace the bell sound but the gather still happens. I did quick search but did not see it and I lost the copy I had.

Sound files are in fdb/sound.fdb or fdb/music.fdb (not "*.wdb").
You can easily extract them with fdb-extractor.
Then you can replace any sound You want with a silent/dummy file.
You do it the same way as with graphical models but instead of "model" you put them into "sound"/"music" folder respectively.
Procmon.exe (a tool from Sysinternals) might be useful while determining the address/path of loot sound.
